Blaster Break: 2008 UD Goudey

There’s a lot of crap circulating through the shelves of retail shops time of year. 2008 UD Timeline offers a nice price point, but the product is pretty crappy. 2008 Stadium Club is out there right now, but I’ve already hit two of those blasters. And I heard today that 2008 Topps Heritage High Numbers is out, but I think this fellow blogger sums up my thoughts exactly on the product. So when I came across a solo blaster of 2008 UD Goudey, it called me name. At first I hesitated and thought about reaching for UD Masterpiece instead, but I figured I’d try a blaster of something different.

Comments: Pound for pound, this could be one of the best blasters I’ve opened in a while. I was hoping to see one Sport Royalty SP and ended up with two. Also pulled a pair of YSL cards, a presidential SP, and a couple Red Sox cards. I think this blaster packed a lot of bang for my buck, so if you’re looking to scratch the itch of opening a box, you might want to try one of these if they’re still sitting around on the store shelf. It sure as heck will beat a ordinary blaster of Topps Heritage High Numbers, and even Bowman Draft when those hit the shelves. Part of what makes this particular blaster special is the cluster of good cards in each pack, particularly the first and last packs. Almost all of these cards will be available for trade in that section of this blog, which will be updated shortly.

On a side note, Mario at Wax Heaven should love the Andrew Miller card. Look, he’s pictured as a Marlin, not a Tiger like he is in the Timeline product …
